Erika Rock - The Photography Wizard

If you follow me on social media, you would have seen a slew of new photo's I posted not to long ago. If you wondered who the photography wizard was behind the lens, it is none other then THE Erika Rock. Yes, that is in fact her real name and it couldn't be more perfect!!! This lady somehow miraculously captured my different style influences to the tee, making our photoshoot a "Rock n Roll, Dreamy, Woodland Fairy Princess" vibe! I truly felt inspired by the energy and overall outlook Erika has in life; So much so, I felt the need to share with you all this lovely human I had the blessing to cross path's with. I really could not have asked for a more fun-loving, charismatic person to work along side. SHALL WE MEET her? (shoutout to Erika one time for being kind enough to answer these questions for y'all)

CB: How did your love of photography start?

ER : As a young child, a trip to the 1 Hour Photo was like a trip to the candy store - except sweeter. My family, especially my mom, documented everything. It seems like they were were shooting everyday! I browsed through these photos often, fascinated by the ability to capture moments and then hold them in my hands - as if I was looking back in time. I played with disposable and instant cameras before receiving my first point and shoot at thirteen. No longer only having 27 exposures, I started photographing everything. I was always highly aware of my surroundings, but now I had a way to express what I was seeing and a want to see and shoot more! Photography allows me to bring my visions, my thoughts, my dreams into the world as a tangible thing.

And when Erika says she brings her visions to life, she does just that. We met the day before the shoot and immediately clicked. She understood my vision, and captured every aspect of my brand perfectly. Besides that, she not only knew how to discuss the details of my professional input and thoughts, She made the effort to understand me as a person. Which is something I find very admirable as a client!

CB : Do you have a favorite photographer you look to for inspiration - and or artist you are inspired by?

ER: When I'm looking for inspiration, typically I go for a walk. Every hour, every second, every interaction of my daily life has offered me inspiration time and time again. So, I trust that. I find many people inspiring - including Carmen, (STAWP IT ERIKA! You're making me blusshhh) the one asking me these questions. Carmen is brave and chooses every day to remain true to who she is. Witnessing humans stand in their truth, regardless of whatever life decides to throw their way in this crazy world we live in, THAT is amazing. *cue the ugly crying*

CB: Is photography your dream job ? (:

ER: Absolutely. Life is what I can best describes as magical and myserteous. Through photography, I believe I have found a way to translate this and hopefully remind people to slow down, breathe and look a little closer. (If that doesn't sound like a dream, I don't know what does) Our lives deserve all the attention we can give because our lives, our moments, give us so much.

So you may be wondering ... "Carmen your dad is professional photographer? Why did you use someone else?". That is a great question. I am a perfectionist, and don't work with anybody I don't 100 % trust - especially when money is involved (as should anyone if your smart). That is even more of a reason to use Erika. You see, I can get incredible photos all the time, so if I go out of my way to work with another photographer, you best believe it's because I think there amazing. And amazing doesn't even adequately describe the talent this young woman has. I didn't just gain a new business relationship, or new beautiful promotional photo's, I truly gained a new incredible friend - Who just happens to be ridiculously talented (:
